Spurred by the growth of the railroads Ridgeway, South Carolina population 408 is home to my mother’s side of the family. The oldest of ten children she remains the only member to take up roots outside of town. Using the landscape and extended family the series seeks to channel my mother’s absence within the land. Recalling childhood memories of the small southern town I document the details of the changeless space that’s altered only through time. Returning to the people and places I’ve always known to uncover the missing links of the town, which became my second home.
